The gates are open. The cursor is blinking. Somewhere in the arena, a hero is already looking far too pleased with themselves.
InkAndAnsi_ is live, public registration is open, and you are invited to play.
This is a moment we have been working toward with a great deal of care: opening the doors to a place where fantasy battles, colorful characters, and the enduring magic of text worlds belong together. Whether you have spent years exploring MUDs or have never typed a command into one, welcome. We are glad you are here.
Your next rivalry starts in MUDSlingers
At the heart of InkAndAnsi_ is MUDSlingers, our browser-based game of heroes and turn-based textual combat.
Choose a hero, enter the arena, and let the battle unfold. Read the action, decide your next move, and get to know the abilities that make your chosen character worth rooting for. A well-timed skill can feel wonderful. Discovering exactly why your last decision was a terrible idea has its own educational value.
You can battle Computer opponents or enter the player-versus-player queue. The queue looks for a suitable opponent; when it cannot find a match, a Computer battle keeps you playing.
There are heroes to discover, races and classes to explore, and experience to earn as you fight. Victory deserves its moment, but a loss can still teach your hero something. The next battle is another chance to put that experience to work.
Start at the MUDSlingers arena, or take a detour through the game guide to meet the world behind the combat.
New here? Make your first adventure a small one
You do not need to understand every hero or memorize every ability before joining in.
- Create your account. Visit Account / Sign in and choose the registration option.
- Meet your heroes. Head to MUDSlingers, browse the collection, and choose an available hero who catches your eye.
- Try a battle. Get comfortable with the turn-by-turn action against a Computer opponent, then explore the other battle options when you are ready.
- Follow your curiosity. Look up a race or class in the guide, inspect a hero you have not unlocked, or venture into a text world from the directories.
A glorious first victory is welcome. So is a thoroughly instructive first defeat. Everyone starts somewhere.
Beyond the arena, whole worlds are still alive
InkAndAnsi_ also celebrates the communities and creative traditions that make text-based play so special.
Our MUD directory introduces multiplayer text worlds with their own histories, rules, and people. On supported listings, browser play lets you step from a profile into a live connection without installing a separate client.
The BBS directory opens another door into online culture: bulletin board systems, distinctive screens, and communities with personalities all their own.
These are independently run destinations. Follow each world's welcome screen and account instructions when you visit. Your InkAndAnsi_ account is your identity here; individual MUDs and BBSes may ask you to create or sign into an account of their own.
Come for an arena battle. Stay because a curious game description has somehow turned into an evening of exploration.
Our heroes have escaped onto social media
The first promotional videos are out, and the heroes are getting a little more comfortable in front of the camera.
If you have met one of them in your feed, this is your invitation to meet the game behind the introduction. If you found us here first, come follow along as we bring more of their personalities into the spotlight.
Find InkAndAnsi_ on Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook. Watch, share a favorite, and send a friend toward the arena. Every introduction helps a new player find us.
Help us make the next chapter worth playing
Opening the doors is a beginning. We want to hear what makes you want another battle, which heroes capture your imagination, and where something feels confusing or gets in your way.
Share game feedback through MUDSlingers feedback. If you need help with your account or encounter a problem, sign in and use Help & contact.
Thank you for being here at the start. Thank you for giving an independent game a little of your time, for sharing it with someone who might love it, and for helping this place become more than a collection of pages.
