Privacy Statement

Effective September 15, 2026 · Version 2026-09-15.1

We will never sell your personal information. Not your email, not your profile, not your play history. Never.

1. We will never sell your information

InkAndAnsi will never sell your personal information. We will not rent it, trade it, or disclose it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Your information is not a product. This commitment also applies to our account, relay, community, and MUDSlingers services.

We do disclose information when needed to operate the services you request, work with service providers, protect people and the service, or comply with law, as described below. Those disclosures are not permission to sell your information. Any future operator receiving personal information as part of a permitted business transition must honor this no-sale commitment.

2. Who this statement covers

This statement describes how InkAndAnsi handles information through this website, member accounts, community features, its browser terminal and relay, and MUDSlingers. Contact the operator at travis@inkandansi.com with privacy questions or requests.

Independent MUDs, BBS operators, linked websites, and sign-in services have their own privacy practices. This statement does not control what they do with information you provide to them.

3. Information we process

Account and profile information: email address, provider account identifier, username, display name, real name, biography, authentication status, and account-security information. Supabase handles email/password authentication and optional two-factor authentication. Legacy ChatGPT sign-in uses the identity supplied by that provider. Do not give us your password by email.

Community and listing information: comments, reviews and Inks ratings, forum posts, reports, moderation actions, game or board ownership claims, contact details and supporting evidence, listing edits, and uploaded images. We also receive information you send when contacting support.

Play and game information: world identifiers, tracked play duration and session activity, hero unlocks and their originating games, builds, equipment, progression, dismissals, battle participants and stat snapshots, commands, full MUDSlingers battle transcripts, results, and rewards. We record the agreement and privacy notice versions you accept, the server timestamp, the feature involved, and your provider account identifier when signed in. Guest relay acceptance has a session reference rather than an account identity.

Technical information: our infrastructure and service providers process network and request information such as IP address, browser information, timestamps, requested resources, cookies, connection events, and errors to deliver and secure the service. The browser terminal processes server output and the commands and credentials you send to the chosen external server.

Social information: your chosen profile avatar, friend requests and accepted friendships, blocked-member choices, private message text, sender and recipient, delivery timestamps, and read timestamps. We store messages to provide conversation history across your devices.

4. Why we use it

We use information to authenticate you, provide profiles and community features, connect you to your selected server, track eligible play time, award and manage heroes, run battles, preserve game history, handle support and ownership claims, prevent abuse, enforce agreements, and maintain security and reliability.

We use gameplay records to operate progression, evaluate game balance, and provide the public hero and completed-battle views described below. If we introduce materially different uses, we will update this statement and provide any required notice or choice before that use. We do not use your personal information for targeted advertising.

5. Public and private information

Usernames, display names, biographies, posts, comments, ratings, reviews, public listing information, and official replies are visible to other visitors. Hero champion displays can associate your public profile with a hero and the world that unlocked it. Hero builds can also appear as Computer-controlled opponent echoes in another member’s battle and its history.

Member profiles also display unlocked hero collections, levels, attributes, equipment, item enhancements, inventory, and current hero appearances. Completed MUDSlingers battles are publicly browsable from the member profile, including their transcripts, results, and battle-time hero and opponent stats and equipment. Active battles and battle controls remain restricted to their owner. These public views do not expose account email, real name, authentication identifiers, or private connection records.

Your account email and real name are not public profile fields. Private account information, claim evidence, reports, and administrative records are accessible as needed to authorized operators and service providers. Contact information you deliberately publish in a post or listing becomes public. Other people can copy public content; removing it here cannot remove their copies.

Your selected avatar is public. Direct messages and your friend-request and friend-list screens require sign-in and are available only to the relevant participants through the site. Direct messages are stored by InkAndAnsi and are not end-to-end encrypted; authorized operators and infrastructure providers may access stored information as necessary to operate the service, address abuse, or handle lawful requests. A recipient can copy or share messages you send. Blocking stops future messages and friend requests in both directions, removes the friendship, and preserves existing conversation history.

6. The relay is not an encrypted connection to the game

Your browser connects to our relay using an encrypted WebSocket. The relay then connects to the MUD or BBS using unencrypted Telnet/TCP. Commands, chat, and external-server login credentials pass through the relay and may be readable in transit between the relay and that server. Password masking on screen does not encrypt that connection. Use a different password from your InkAndAnsi account and avoid sending sensitive personal or financial information.

The relay implementation forwards terminal traffic without saving game text, passwords, or terminal command history to our application database or relay logs. Terminal output is held in browser memory during the session. This does not prevent an external server or its operator from logging what it receives, or infrastructure from retaining connection metadata. The external server sees the relay connection and the information you type.

MUDSlingers is separate: its battle commands, transcripts, hero snapshots, and results are saved as game history. Tracked MUD play time is also saved separately from terminal text.

7. When information leaves InkAndAnsi

Hosting, storage, authentication, transactional email, network-security, and relay infrastructure providers process information needed to run the service. Our setup uses Sites hosting and Cloudflare infrastructure, Supabase authentication, and email delivery services; legacy users may authenticate through ChatGPT. Providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate, subject to applicable requirements.

When you connect to a MUD or BBS, we transmit the terminal traffic you choose to send to that operator. Links and externally hosted images or fonts can send your browser’s network information to their hosts. Those hosts and external services may collect information under their own policies, including across visits to their services.

We may disclose information when legally required, to respond to valid legal process, to investigate abuse or fraud, to protect safety and rights, or to authorized advisers handling such matters. Any transfer necessary to continue operating the business remains subject to the no-sale commitment above.

8. Cookies and tracking choices

We use cookies and browser storage for sign-in, security, and functional preferences. Blocking or clearing them can sign you out or interrupt features. The application does not include advertising trackers or a cross-site behavioral advertising system.

We do not change the application’s behavior in response to a browser Do Not Track signal. Our no-sale and no-targeted-advertising commitment applies regardless of that signal or a Global Privacy Control setting. Independent sites you visit and third-party resource hosts control their own tracking.

9. Retention, access, and deletion

We retain account and community information while needed to provide the service, and gameplay and unlock history while needed to support your collection and game records. Dismissing a hero does not itself delete its history. Security, moderation, acceptance, backup, and dispute records may need to remain longer for their specific purposes or legal obligations; retention varies by record and provider.

You can edit profile details and your own supported community content through the site. To request access, a copy, correction, account closure, or deletion, email travis@inkandansi.com from your account email where possible. We may verify your identity without asking for your password. We will address requests under applicable law, explain any permitted retention or refusal, and will not penalize you for exercising a privacy right.

Deletion may require removing or anonymizing linked game and community records. Public copies, external-server accounts, and third-party records are outside our direct control. Contact their operators separately. This statement does not promise that backups are erased immediately or that all legal recordkeeping can be waived.

Private conversations and social connection records are retained to provide message history and friend features. Removing a friend or blocking a member does not delete past messages. Contact travis@inkandansi.com for requests concerning stored messages or account deletion.

10. Security and age eligibility

We use access controls, verified authentication, and other safeguards, but no online system is guaranteed secure. The Telnet connection described above is a specific limitation. Report suspected account misuse or a data-security concern to travis@inkandansi.com.

Our accounts, relay, and game services are offered to adults aged 18 or older who can legally enter the User Agreement. They are not directed to children. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

11. Changes to this statement

We will publish updates with a new effective date. For material changes affecting existing users, we will provide a prominent site notice or account email before the change takes effect, and obtain consent where required. Our commitment never to sell your personal information will not be reversed by a policy update.

Owner operations notice — October 9, 2026

The owner dashboard uses account activity, connection timestamps, IP addresses and browser information for support, abuse prevention and service reliability. New activity, connection and measured-operation records are available for 30 days; cleanup removes expired records in batches. IP addresses are not proof of identity. We do not record external terminal text, passwords or authentication tokens in this dashboard.

Only verified owner accounts can access the dashboard. Private-message content is reviewed only for necessary support, abuse investigations or other operational purposes, with a recorded review reason. Owner action and review records are retained for up to one year. Resolved help requests are removed after one year; unresolved requests remain while assistance is needed. Earlier help requests remain with the email provider under its retention settings.

Optional play and shop measurements

Help us understand which pages lead to practice and purchases. Off by default. When enabled, we record limited actions, a page category, a tab-session identifier that renews after 30 minutes of inactivity, and a predefined source label derived from a campaign tag or referring website. Signed-in observations can be linked to your member account. We do not record terminal text, messages, full URLs, card details or advertising profiles. Reports use at most 90 days of observations. Older observations are removed in bounded maintenance batches as collection or owner review runs; dormant records may remain until the next maintenance run.

This device preference is separate from advertising consent and marketing email consent.
